Course Description

Added in HTML5, the HTML canvas element can be used to draw graphics via scripting in JavaScript.After completing this course, students will learn the basics of how to draw on canvas to create graphics in a web page.
The goal of the course is to create a simple Flappy Bird style game. The game won’t be exactly like Flappy Bird but would follow similar game logic.
Students will learn how an external JavaScript can be linked to HTML. They will see how to use the request animation frame method in JavaScript to make the game smoother.
Students will learn how to handle keyboard events and perform action based on input by the user. They will have clear understanding on how to load images and sprite sheets to a web page.
After understanding the basics, you can easily make your own game using the methodology you learn in the course.

What are the requirements?

  • Students must know the basics of JavaScript and HTML5 however they aren’t expected to possess advanced knowledge. The basic concepts are sufficient for this course.
